7 Days Stop Smoking Program

There are many ways that are available in the market to help a smoker quit smoking for good. One among them is the 7 days stop smoking program. For this program, one has to select a day to quit smoking 7 days away from the deciding day. This will give plenty of time to prepare and act accordingly.

To begin with, the 1st and the 2nd day is the start up time, where the smoker begins to re-examine their smoking pattern. In these two days, the smoker needs to ask himself or herself why he or she is lighting the cigarette then. Then the smoker needs to rethink if the smoke is really essential at the moment and what else can be done then instead of smoking.

The urge for the cigarettes last only for 5 minutes in the human brain so on the 3rd day one can try and divert the mind during the urge for the cigarettes by chewing a gum or jogging or playing with a pencil or a pen etc. Any activity that diverts the mind from cigarette is a welcome change.

The following day, which is the 4th day, is the testing day. The smoker by the previous day’s experience would have the most difficult time of smoking. The part of the day where he or she smokes and finds it most difficult to stop has to be tried and stopped on the 4th day.

However, this is just a practice period so one should not get disheartened if he or she is not able to give up on that cigarette .One should try and practice hard towards giving up the most difficult cigarette for the day so that the rest of them falls in place. But, this failure of giving up on the difficult cigarette gives the smoker the time to review the factor that has deterred the person from smoking.

During these 7 days, one should avoid places and situations that induce the urge for smoking like parties, pubs and night clubs, to name a few. There might be instances in the office or at home that creates stress in the person or inculcates tension, these are essentially the time when the smoker opts for smoking cigarettes. These moments should be handled carefully and one has to seek in healthier alternatives during these times like going for a long walk or having a herbal tea and so on.

One needs to get away from the area that the tension is associated with. Take a walk, or go to another room. One may also find that nicotine gum is better substitute to smoking cigarette.

The 5th and 6th days are the days where the consumption of cigarettes would have come down substantially. During days 5 and 6, one has to set the goals towards achieving positive results on day 7. One has to maintain the smoking record during these three days, and continue to decrease the dependency on nicotine.

The nicotine patch or gum will give a steady influx of nicotine into the system, which will be reduced slowly over a period of several weeks. One should not smoke while on the nicotine patch. Until, the smoker is completely out of cigarette smoking, these patches will help.

By the end of the 7th day, there will be a considerable difference in the smoking pattern of the individual. People who are light smokers may even get rid of the habit completely and smoking addicts will find their need for cigarette come down.
